In the most recent publication from The Monday Morning Quarterback, Concert Architectural Interiors was ranked 12th in the article, “Top 100 Suppliers of Office Furniture to the United States Government,” with the next Arizona based supplier ranked in the 50’s.
Up until recently, government agencies were required to purchase office furniture products from the government-run Federal Prison Industries (FPI) if they produced it, which is a 75-year old program with just over 3,000 inmates working to produce desks, shelves, chairs, and the like. With the removal of this mandate by Congress, the way has now expanded for companies like Concert to provide products and services to the government. This allows agencies to select from a much greater variety of choices, which in turn allows for a better and more intelligent space to be created.
Concert is currently finishing up a multi-tiered project in Texas for the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, where we worked in concert with Jacobs to provide a best in class space. Read the case study HERE.

If you’re in the world of evidence, you know just how diverse the shapes and sizes of evidence can be. When you are storing anything from hand guns, long guns, narcotics, and money to biological evidence and miscellaneous pieces, the storing process can be…well…tricky.
Fortunately, there are things you can do to ensure you are creating the most efficient and productive evidence storage and processing environment possible.
Below are some “tips” for Evidence Storage and Evidence Room Planning from the Spacesaver Storage Solved BLOG by Jason Konz and from “The Evidence Log” authored by Steve Berdrow with the International Association for Property and Evidence, Inc (IAPE). Berdrow is a 25-year veteran of the Burbank Police Department in California, who helped to co-lead a $30 million public safety building project:

Tip 1 :: Visit others sites, see what works and what doesn’t.
Tip 2 :: Put evidence lockers in the most convenient area: the Report Writing Room.
Tip 3 :: At every possible opportunity, build pass-through lockers into the common wall between the Report Writing Room and the Property Room to save time and energy.
Tip 4 :: Avoid standard lockers with simple “gravity” locks at every cost as these can be easily picked open and will compromise your chain of custody.
Tip 5 :: Use lockers that are constructed to be openable solely from the Property Room with a flippable catch, so you won’t need to worry about keys.
Tip 6 :: Vary the size openings of the locker compartments for inevitably varying types of evidence AND include refrigerated and/or drying cabinets.
Tip 7 :: Consider including one fixed panel instead of a door that can be used to slip multiple small items into, rather than taking up several single compartments (this could hold small pieces of evidence such as photos, drivers licenses, small documents, etc).
Tip 8 :: Lastly, choose a woven-wire gate for the lockers on the Property Room side that allows you to see into the lockers, eliminating time wasted checking for evidence.

What types of Evidence Storage does Concert offer to assist you in creating these preferable storing environments? An endless variety of Pass-Thru Lockers, Non-Pass-Thru Lockers, Refrigerated Lockers, Drying Cabinets, High-Density Mobile Shelving and Modular Laboratory Casework. The Problem:
If you’re a hospital professional, you know just how important time really is. To spend a maximized amount of time with patients and a highly minimized amount of time searching for supplies is paramount! So what types of things can a hospital do to improve efficiencies and eliminate wasted time?
According to a recent New York Times article titled, “Factory Efficiency Comes to the Hospital,” healthcare organizations are putting a huge emphasis on learning the practice made famous by Toyota, called kaizen, that have been put into effect successfully for some time, particularly by the automotive and aerospace industries. The idea is to reduce waste and create added value for customers through a series of continual smaller improvements. Through doing so, you build up a foundation that allows for better and higher quality patient care.
The Solution:
One of the solutions we offer here at Concert Architectural Interiors is a decentralized storage system that allows healthcare professionals to spend more time providing bedside care and less time hunting and gathering supplies. Consider the innovative CoreSTOR™ solution by Spacesaver Corporation and watch this video from FOX News:

CoreSTOR™ rethinks the hospital layout design by building in storage for better care. This reduces unnecessary steps and enhances the amount of time available for healthcare professionals to focus on patient care.
The CoreSTOR™ patient server is designed to put 80% of the most frequently used supplies for patient care 10 steps from the bedside.

“Time and motion studies have proven time and again that Point of Need Point of Care Storage Solutions for supplies, medical equipment, medicine and information are KEY for eliminating wasted time & energy by the clinical staff,” says Jason Freeman, Director of Healthcare at Spacesaver Corporation on the Storage Solved BLOG.
 CoreSTOR In Use
 CoreSTOR Not In Use
Thus, when you ask your average hospital nurse what their biggest gripe is, they’ll most likely not tell you it’s their pay or their hours, but the outrageous amounts of time they spend looking for supplies! The fact is, nurses spend too much time and effort hunting and gathering supplies due to their current centralized storage systems. The quality of care increases the more often nurses are freed to provide bedside care.
Here’s a free download if you would like to learn more about Point-Of-Need healthcare storage practices and CoreSTOR™ patient servers.

Conservation. Preservation. Security. These are arguably the three most important things to consider when it comes to collection care storage for your valuable artifacts. How to make sure none of these factors are compromised?
By Innovatively Conserving Space and Adding Layers of Protection: Smart.
Spacesaver Collection Care Storage Systems are mobile. This means that the amount of available floor space to store your collections may now seem to be in a perpetual state of decline, however, with the mobile storage application, fixed aisle space normally wasted is put to work!
You get the most functionality and storage room humanly possible, plus an added layer of protection by closing the aisles when they are not in use.
Concert Architectural Interiors has provided many Arizona museums with the best storage solutions possible. Some of these include:
Arizona State Archives, Arizona State Capitol Museum, Center for Creative Photography, Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix Museum of History, Phoenix Art Museum, Museum of Northern Arizona, Sharlot Hall Museum, and many more.

Does your office have a mail center, a copy center, or an area where documents are processed? A hub of all things documented? A place where paper flow meets a need for organized circulation? There are few things in the workplace environment more frightening than a messy and inefficient mailroom center through which all your important active documents can and do flow.
Concert Architectural Interiors is a provider of modular caseworks by Hamilton Sorter, of which efficient, functional and organized mailrooms are our specialty.
The best part about the mailroom storage solutions we offer other than the uncompromisable quality? Each installation carries a limited lifetime warranty. The modularity of the storage system (which allows you to transform your solution to virtually any type of need you may have) isn’t such a bad feature either.
TIP: Color-coding enhances sorting accuracy. Choose from 10 assorted color index strips for your active document stations.
You may be thinking, “Why would I choose modular casework for my active document areas over millwork?” Here’s 6 answers to that question from the blog “Stuff Matters” by Patterson Pope to consider for your next project:
- It’s factory produced – The manufacturing of Modular Casework takes place in a controlled environment with computer generated machinery that can make precision cuts and guarantee measurements.
- It’s quickly installed – Modular Casework ships in modules that are ready to install, cutting the installation time to about half that of millwork.
- It’s reconfigurable – Unless there are seismic concerns, Modular Casework is not actually bolted to the wall or floors. The base cabinets are leveled and ganged together. The upper wall cabinets are fastened to a zip rail. The modules do not have to be damaged or disassembled in order to reconfigure or relocate – making it very easy to reuse when needs change.
- It’s repairable – Doors, drawers, hinges, and end panels are much easier to repair than traditional millwork, because Modular Casework components are engineered to disassemble and reattach.
- It’s depreciable – Modular Casework is treated like furniture and depreciates on a seven year schedule (as opposed to millwork, which is classified as permanent construction and requires 39 years to depreciate.)
- It’s specifiable – Drawing millwork is a tedious, time consuming task. But Modular Casework can be drawn in software by a local representative. Or, with BIM software, it is simple to drag and drop your options into a space with ease, assuring that you get the design you intend.

Just a few years ago, Spacesaver’s storage specialists visited a number of hard-working healthcare professionals to gather market research about a new storage product they had in the works called FrameWRX. While there were many things found to be important, the resounding theme amongst the healthcare professionals was the need for flexibility.
 FrameWRX Configuration Example 1
Shelley Smith wrote on Spacesaver’s blog, “Whether these healthcare professionals were pharmacy directors, working behind the scenes in the hospital inpatient pharmacy, or nurses out on the front lines, caring for patients, they all spoke of the need for flexibility because healthcare materials, supplies, meds, etc. are always changing.”
Also coming into the mix as an important factor in choosing healthcare storage applications, space, and excuse the pun, was found to be a significant wall. As a facility attempts to maximize revenue-generating space (for example; patient rooms) and minimize non-revenue-generating space (for example; storage areas) – it becomes increasingly important to use the most efficient storage solutions as to have pertinent materials available to the correct staff and at the right time.
 FrameWRX Example Configuration 2
The solution was this: a storage application that changes as often as you like. The FrameWRX solution employs flexibility, adjustability, and adaptibility to make it highly customizable and easily relocated per your needs. Click on the “Watch Video” link at the FrameWRX page while you’re there for a demonstration!
Don’t hesitate to call a Concert Team Member today with any questions about the FrameWRX system at (602) 265-1063 or email us at info@concertai.com. Happy storing!

1: Assess the inventory you have and what you might need.
A great first step for planning your weapons storage solution is knowing what you have now and what you might need in the future. Flexibility is extremely important if you are uncertain about your inventory of future and incoming weapons. Consider a solution with high visibility and flexibility for storage conversion between different types of weapons. Here is a great example:
Concert's Recently Installed Solution at the AZ National Guard
To help determine your weapons inventory, below is a complimentary spreadsheet for download by Spacesaver. Feel free to contact Concert’s Matt Gawin, Director of Public Safety/Military, if there is anything you see missing that you would like to inventory :: mgawin@concertai.com.
2: Assess Your Available Weapons Storage Space
Considering that most armories are quite limited on space, it is imperative to know your options that will help maximize every inch of your area.
Options to win every inch of the battle for space:

- Fully Retractable Doors :: allow for smaller or no aisles and a more open room to store your weapons.
- Mobile Carriages :: condenses down 50% of storage space and completely eliminates need for aisles. Also provides layer of security.
- Two Tiered Racks :: stacking racks optimizes vertical space if available if you need an extra pinch of storage.
Here is a great example of mobile carriages that eliminate the need for aisle space:

Saving you time and space is what it’s all about. Hopefully this is helpful in assessing your needs to determine a perfect fit for your operation.
